Mori station is near Mt. Komagatake and Oonuma park where there are beautiful ponds. There are a other "Mt. Komagatake"s in Japan, such as Mt. Kai-Komagatake("Kai" is an old name of Yamanashi Pref.) . "This Komagatake" is an active volcano and has a sharp form like a cresent moon. I took Express "Hokuto(this means 'Polar')" bound for Sapporo in early morning, but got off at this station. I saw Mt. Komagatake at the first time then. I got off this station by chance明けて翌日、早朝特急「北斗」に乗車した筆者は、だが早々にこの列車を見切って森駅に下車している。弧月形の異峰・駒ヶ岳を見るのはこれが初めてであった。偶然ではあったがとても良い選択をしたように思う。駅前には朝早くから営業している蕎麦屋があった。
