Torii

Photograph at: Ebina-City, Kanagawa Pref, Japan
"Torii" is a symbolic gate of Japanese shrine. "Tori" means a bird, and "i" means a staying place. Birds just like pigeons are known as the messengers from gods of nature.
But....there are no shrines here and this Torii is too small to enter . Then what's this?
The answer is on the wall beyond it. Just as you see, it's been corroded so much by some kind of "fruid" from "men standing in front of the wall".....this "Little Torii" is a barrier against that.
