New rapid train
Photgraph taken at: Nishi-Azai town, Shiga Pref., At platform of Nagahara station. There are three JR lines around Biwako-Lake in Shiga (Toukaido-Line, Kosei-Line and Hokuriku-Line). Direct trains have been rarely in service because of the different type of electricity current for a long time. But the current type of all the lines around the lake were united for Direct Current in Oct.12nd, 2006. And direct access from Osaka area via lakeside line to Tsuruga with "New rapid train". This picture is the new rapid train approaching Nagahara station from Tsuruga (where the line was previously electricified by Alternative current).
