PLCC=>PGA converter for x286
made by ABM(which was ruined)
specification |
Junk Point myCPU socket was PGA type
story I found 'that' in "Akihabara radio-department store", which was department of Junk parts that was hard to go shopping when I was amatur for PC.
Me"E,eeexcuse me....how much for this?...."
I was encouraged to ask to a shopmaster. that CPU-accelerator"ABM 486SLGT-MK-II" which upgraded x286CPU to Cx486SLC was 158,000yen and was not easy to buy for me.
The terrible(I thought) shopmaster answered.
"Oh, you can get it for 90,000yen"
".....(what?!)"
I now think that was very suspicious because he was an "old fox Junk-shop master", but I was so excited to hear this. But I thought that I could beat down the price a little bit more.
"oh.....iiI got it, but.....can you bargain this for about 85,000?"
"That's OK. You got it for 84,000"
How generous he is!!.....I paid a lot of money for me of 84,000yen to the gentle shop master......
......It was a week before the new version of 286=>486CPU acceralator "486GT-R" released, which was much smaller than MK-II and was 30,000yen....
This large device required many maintainances and HDD crushes for my PC-9801VX2 for the acceralation less than 30%. I sent this device with PC for three times and 486SLC processor changed from Cyrix to Texas Instruments after all.
Everyone can imagine that it was so unstable that this 10cmx10cm device can hardly install to 68-pin CPU socket for x286.
A model name"386SX-GT",which was previous version of 486SLGT with i386SX was printed on this connector. It had only a merit that it can work on 386Enh mode and the performance was as fast as x286. It was 98,000yen.
