I got "TATUNG TCS-9700VL",my first IBM-PC/AT compatible PC and was very satisfied with its high performance. But one day I checked its HDD....and found many bad sectors.
I didn't suddenly turned off the power before shutting down Windows3.1. moreever, I wrote out the HDD-cache using "smartdrv /c". I couldn't know the reason why there came bad sectors. I read in a PC magazine that the overheat of HDD maked it wrong ."I've got it. The HDD must work right by cooling it"....so I got this 5inch-bay cooler.
The motors mounted in this was small, but it was very noisy to work. But I was enforced to use it so that no bad sector came....But whenever I checked it, I found it bad.
One day, I found that the room light turned weak. So I tested the voltage of AC-power....."89V". I ordered the repair of power supply next day and this cooler put away from PC as soon as the repair was finished and the voltage recoverd normal of 100V.
But I made many explosive accidents like running "chkdsk.exe" for PC-DOS to the virtual drive of PC-9801(Which wasn't conpatible to PC-DOS) via "LAPLINK" and crushing all of HDD data. |
