story "Third Party"....What a delicious term! It's a pronoun of "reasonable and high-performance" for me as "the NEC PC-9801 generation" who was enforced to buy high-cost and low-performance genuine parts.
"I love the spirit of 'MAZDA rotary engine' as a minority " Mr.Ryosuke Takahashi,"The white comet on Mt.Akagi" said.(He is one of the fastest street racer driving RX-7 on "Initial-D").What encouraging words!!.....
....But although a car can drive faster by driver's technique, the performance of PC mostly depends on hardware.

SIS was courage enough to compete to "INTEL The Gulliver" and release "SIS-551x" chipset that supported L2-cache, but I know that many of my friends regretted to buy mainboards which installed this chipset that was 20-25% slower than "Triton"(Intel 430HX),the defact standard chipset for P54C-Pentium in those days.
And I also bought this mainboard,because I believed that Intel-430FX mainboard I previously bought was unstable.
However I set the BIOS, this mainboard couldn't work faster.Moreever, it works more slower when I used "Micrografx Picture Publisher"(because this chipset was uncongenial to this software?).This seemed to disable L2-cache to me.
Although I was patient to use this mainboard for a long time, I changed it quickly for IntelTX97 mainboard as soon as it released. After this, I found that instability of 430FX mainboard was occurred by disconnect PCI card.
Although "the third-party products" inferior to "main stream products(such as Triton,Pentium4)",they're superior in several points. such as;
*"AMD-Athlon" beats Pentium4 in running Business applications.
*"SIS-551x"can work only 1-SIMM.
*"SIS-551x"mainboard was 2,000yen cheaper than "430HX"mainboard.
It's important that the specification of the product suits to the user's purpose.
Today, my main PC is"AMD-Athlon" Platform, and I'm a heavy user of Mpeg4-encoding software(which work slower in Athlon platform than that in Pentium4 platform)....when will AMD implement SSE2 to Athlon....?
